What Makes Shadow Box Different

In a standard privacy fence, the pickets are all nailed to the front face of the rails. From the back (your neighbor’s side), you see the posts and rails — functional, but not finished-looking.

Shadow box alternates the pickets: one on the front, one on the back, staggered so they overlap slightly. You get visual privacy without completely solid panels — there’s a small gap between the alternating boards — while both sides look intentional and finished.
